1. Introduction
Gestimator (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our livestock gestation tracking application.
2. Information We Collect
Data You Provide
Gestimator stores the following information locally on your device by default. Google Drive Sync is currently not available and is deferred for a future release. If a future release enables Google Drive Sync as an optional, opt-in Pro feature, a copy of your animal records may be uploaded to your personal Google Drive App Data folder. The following describes the stored records:
- · Animal Records: Names, types (species), ear tags, dates of birth, sex, markings, registration numbers, sire/dam linkages, and cost fields.
- · Breeding History: Historical breeding dates, outcomes, stillbirth counts, and heat logs.
- · Health Records & Tasks: Health logs, treatments, vaccination protocol selections, and task checklists.
- · Weight Logs: Historical weight records and Body Condition Scores (BCS).
- · Templates: Saved animal configuration templates.
- · Photos: Animal photos you choose to add (stored locally on your device).
Automatically Collected Data
- · App Metadata: Database migration version, last update date (stored locally).
- · Crash Reports (new in v2.8.0): If the app crashes, an anonymous crash report is sent to Sentry (sentry.io), a third-party error monitoring service. See the Crash Reporting section below for details.
- · No Usage Analytics: We do not collect how you navigate the app, which features you use, or any behavioural tracking data.
- · No Personal Information: We do not collect personal identifiers unless you sign in with Google to use the optional cloud sync feature (when available).
3. Data Storage & Sharing
Local Storage (Default)
- · All data is stored locally on your device using SQLite database.
- · No cloud sync by default: Your data does not leave your device.
- · We do not operate any proprietary servers or cloud infrastructure.
Google Drive Sync (Deferred — Future Release)
Google Drive Sync is not available in the current release. In a future release, if you choose to sign in with Google and enable cloud sync, your animal records will be uploaded to your personal Google Drive App Data folder. Only Gestimator can read this folder. Google stores and transmits the data according to Google's Privacy Policy.
Data Sharing
By default, we share only crash report data with one third party. Specifically:
- · Sentry — anonymous crash reports only, when a crash occurs. No animal data, no personal information.
- ✗ No advertising networks, data brokers, usage analytics, or social media tracking.
- ⚙️ Google Drive — only if you explicitly opt in to the cloud sync feature (when released).
4. Crash Reporting
We use Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., USA) to detect and diagnose app crashes so we can fix them quickly.
What is sent when a crash occurs:
- · Stack trace: Code file names and line numbers where the error occurred (never contains animal data).
- · App version & Build number: e.g. “2.8.0+18”.
- · Device details: Android OS version and device model (e.g. “Android 16, Vivo V2318”).
- · Navigation breadcrumbs: Screen names only, representing the last 50 actions prior to the crash.
- ✗ No PII / IP address: Sentry never receives your IP address or personal names.
- ✗ No Animal Data / Notes: Your local database contents are never read or transmitted.
Sentry retains crash reports for 90 days, after which they are deleted. Crash reporting is processed under legitimate interest to maintain app safety. To request a build with crash reporting completely disabled, contact us at privacy@ebena.com.ng.
5. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases
Gestimator is planning to introduce optional premium subscriptions in a future update. Subscriptions are not currently active or enforced — all users currently have full, unlimited access to every feature at no cost.
Grandfathering Policy:
Users who install the app before 31 December 2025 will automatically receive lifetime, unlimited access to all features at no cost when subscriptions are introduced.
Data Stored Locally:
When active, subscription status, purchase dates, and types are stored locally on your device. We do not store or process credit cards or billing addresses. All billing is processed directly by the Google Play Store under Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Your Rights & Data Deletion
You have complete control over your data. You can view, edit, delete, or export (PDF, CSV, JSON) your data at any time.
To delete your data:
- Delete a single animal: On the home screen, tap the ⋮ menu on the animal card and select Delete.
- Archive an animal: Swipe the animal card left to move it to the Archive (hides it from the active list without permanently deleting).
- Delete all animals: Open the side drawer, tap App Settings under the Settings section, scroll to the danger zone, and tap "Delete All Animals" (requires double confirmation).
- Remove all data permanently: Uninstall the app from your device to wipe the local database and stored photos.
- Remove Google Drive sync data (if enabled in future): Open the Google Drive app, go to Settings > Manage apps, find Gestimator, and select "Delete hidden app data".
7. Permissions
Gestimator requests permissions only to enable specific user features:
- Camera: Used to take photos of animals (stored locally only).
- Storage: Used to access or save animal photos to device storage.
- Notifications: Used to display local due date reminders (processed entirely offline on the device).
- Internet: Used exclusively for sending anonymous crash reports to Sentry and running Google Drive Sync. Core features remain fully functional offline.
8. Compliance (GDPR & CCPA)
GDPR (European Users):
We act as a data controller for local data, and your rights (access, deletion, portability) are exercised locally through the app. Crash reports are processed by Sentry under a GDPR-compliant Data Processing Agreement (certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework).
CCPA (California Users):
We do not sell or share your personal information. You retain full ownership and deletion rights over all data.
9. Technical Details
- Database: SQLite local database stored in the app's private storage directory, protected by device-level encryption.
- Offline Architecture: Gestation math, tasks, heat cycles, and report generation operate 100% offline.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Changes will be posted within the app and on our app store listing. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
